An official release date has been announced for a remake of the classic horror movie Poltergeist: Friday, Feb. 13, 2015

The reboot will hit theaters the same day as the Fifty Shades of Grey film adaptation, which will create a massive amount of competition for the two films.

Fifty Shades of Grey Movie News

The remake will feature The Bowens family, a change from the original movie circulating on the Freeling family. However, they will face the same challenges.

The film stars Sam Rockwell (Moon) as the father, Rosemarie Dewitt (Cinderella Man) as the mother, Saxon Sharbino (I Spit on Your Grave) as the older sister and newcomer Kennedi Clements as Madison, the little girl who is taken into the television.

Poltergeist is about a family whose home is invaded by ghosts that kidnap the youngest daughter, Madison. The family comes together to rescue her and fight the evil spirits when their home is terrorized even more.

The new film has some large shoes to fill, as the original was nominated for three Oscars back in 1983: Best Visual Effects, Best Sound Effects Editing and Original Score.
