It appears Guardians of the Galaxy fans will not get a glimpse of the Star-Lord during this year's Super Bowl.

Last week, The Hollywood Reporter kicked off Guardians trailer speculation when it reported that Disney was in the market for more Super Bowl airtime. While the iconic company appears to have allocated one spot for a Need For Speed advert and may use another for a Captain America: The Winter Solider trailer, it was unknown what could be placed in any of the other highly expensive spaces.

Considering Guardians of the Galaxy is the first Marvel film without an Avenger, it is far less well known than its other Phase Two counterparts. While placing a trailer in front of the over 100 million sets of eyes tuning in for the big game could spike interest, it appears Marvel and Disney are not headed in that direction.

"For those of you asking about a #gotg Super Bowl spot, there will not be one but we will have something incredibly awesome for you soon," tweeted Guardians director James Gunn on Thursday.

The recent comment is in line with a Facebook post Gunn made earlier in the month after sharing a NASA image of the Hand of God Pulsar Wind Nebula and joking that it was a special bit of marketing for the film.

"We're saving Rocket [Raccoon] for our second Nebula, which won't be out for a couple months," Gunn teased in the caption, making a reference to both Bradley Cooper's and Karen Gillan's characters.
