American Hustle director David O. Russell wants Jennifer Lawrence to star in his upcoming biopic about an inventor.

Russell is in early talks to rewrite and direct a biopic on inventor Joy Mangano. Mangano was a single mom from Long Island who became famous for designing the Miracle Mop, which at first she created for her own convenience at home, but eventually ended up making a huge business out of it.

The script for the project has been written by Annie Mumolo, who had gotten nominations for co-writing Bridesmaids with Kristen Wiig. The film is being produced by John Davis and John Fox (both represent Davis Entertainment) with Ken Mok.

Mangano's company, Ingenious Designs, LLC, struck a multimillion-dollar deal with HSN in 2000.

Lawrence recently picked up a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her performance in American Hustle. The actress also won an Oscar last year for her role in Silver Linings Playbook, which was also directed by Russell.

In another bit of related news, it was revealed that Lawrence almost ruined one of her American Hustle costumes at Diane von Furstenberg's Journey of a Dress event on Jan. 26. because of her carelessness and love of junk food. The 23-year-old actress got Dorito dust on the costume according to the film's costume designer, Michael Wilkinson.

"Jennifer Lawrence is a very ... let's say ... raw and intuitive young lady," he said. "And she's not against eating Doritos and snack food in her costume. So we were glad that we had a couple of [backups]."
