"I'm more cynical about it now," Oldman added. "I'll believe it when I'm on the plane home."

Even though Oldman's odds of being in the film appear to be slim, the actor seems to still be in consideration.

"But yeah, they've inquired," he added.

Oldman's most popular credits include The Dark Knight, Leon: The Professional and most recently RoboCop. He was also nominated for an Oscar in 2012 for Best Actor in a Leading Role for the film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Another recent rumor of an actor who might make an appearance in the latest "Star Wars" flick included That Awkward Moment star Zac Efron.

The High School Musical actor recently revealed to MTV that he was also approached for a part in "Star Wars: Episode VII."

"I just went and met with [producers]," Efron said. "So I don't know. It would be cool. I love [the Star Wars movies', I love them, but...who knows?"

Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill have reportedly confirmed their roles as Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker.

Star Wars: Episode VII is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2015.
