Katy Perry and John Mayer have broken up, according to reports.

Us Weekly said the the break up was mutual and "extremely amicable" and that the two former lovers are still friends despite reports indicated that they were fighting before the split.

A source said that Perry's hectic schedule was a main reason why they broke up and they "made the mature decision that it was the right time."

The couple dated off-and-on for about two years, and in August they released a song together, Who You Love.

"We have music as an understanding and love between each other and we connect," the singer told Ellen Degeneres in Dec. "It's like he understands what I do because he does the same thing. And so after a long day, if it's been tough, I don't really have to go into it. He just gets it."

Back in August, Perry told Vogue that she was happily in love with Mayer.

"I still am madly in love with him. All I can say about that relationship is that he's got a beautiful mind. ... Beautiful mind, tortured soul. I do have to figure out why I am attracted to these broken birds."

The couple attended this year's Grammy awards after=-party at the Ace Hotel in downtown LA

"John and Katy were really cute together," a source said at the time. "John seemed really comfortable with Katy's parents and her brother, too."

"They're very sweet together!"
