Joining indie darling Greta Gerwig in a lead role for How I Met Your Dad is Drew Tarver, an actor who has mostly done appearances in episodes of smaller comedy parody shows like NTSF:SD:SUV and according to a Deadline report, he is also a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade. Tarver has also created and starred in several Funny or Die videos as well.

Tarver will reportedly be portraying Todd, Sally's (Gerwig) best friend and roommate from college, who is now married to her brother.

It was also rumored recently that Bring it On star Eliza Dushku could also be up for the second lead female role on the show, after she tweeted that she was reading over the script.

"Ok. Now to put down iphone aka #Kiev #Venezuela tracking device & pick up "How I Met Your Dad" pilot script to read. #spinoff #channelchange," she wrote on Feb.20.

However, she has dispelled any confirmation that she is going to be in the show, also writing "#Reading the pilot, folks. No announcement, just a first date-perhaps this weekend. #HowIMetYourDad. It IS kinda #bada** #justsayin."

If Dushku is cast in the series, she would be portraying the role of Juliet, Sally's "sexy, flamboyant, energetic, party-girl BFF" who runs a fashion blog and hates Sally's husband.

Still yet to be cast in the new series are the roles of Gavin (Sally's husband), Danny (Sally's brother and Todd's husband), and Frank, who has a crush on Sally.

No premiere date has been set for the new series, though fans of How I Met Your Mother can catch the final all-new episodes of the show Monday nights at 8 p.m. on CBS.
