Deepika Padukone has signed on to endorse a brand that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan previously lent her support to.

Padukone has signed on a Rs. 6 crore endorsement deal for a leading cola brand according to reports. Though there is no certainty on whether this could be Coca Cola or Pepsi, as Bachchan has endorsed both brands at different points in her career.

"The cola brand signed Padukone for more than one year and she is being paid hefty sum," a source told the Hindustan Times.

Bachchan Fought With Abhishek Because of Her Mother-in-Law?

The source also revealed that bagging the deal was not easy as the brand is known to work with coveted A-listers.

"The brand has been very selective in choosing its ambassadors," she said. "Among Bollywood heroines, they had Aishwarya Rai Bachchan around eight years ago. At the time, she had a successful run in her acting career. After a long gap, they have now signed Deepika."

In February, Bachchan was ranked fourth in a recent world's most beautiful women poll by Hollywood Buzz

The only other Bollywood actress that featured on the list was Deepika Padukone, who nabbed the 29th spot.

Aishwarya's Baby Aaradhya Conflicting With New Projects? 

Currently Bachchan, who has been missing from the film scene since she gave birth to her daughter Aaradhya and busied up with mom duties, is gearing up to making her comeback in Bollywood with a Mani Ratnam film. She will be starring with South Indian actors Nagarjuna and Mahesh Babu. The movie might also feature Kamal Hassan's daughter Shruthi Hassan, who recently started out as an actress in the Indian film industry.

The film will be bilingual (Tamil-Telugu) and production is expected to begin later this year. The last film Rai worked with Ratnam on was Raavan (2010). The film also starred her husband Abhishek Bachchan.
