Doctors Jo Wilson and Alex Karev have been through a lot in their relationship, yet Camilla Luddington hinted that there's more to come.

The couple has to deal with a new rule at the Grey Sloan Memorial that forbids doctors who aren't married from dating. Since the two haven't tied the knot on Grey's Anatomy, they technically can't continue their relationship.

"They're dealing with it horribly," Luddington, who plays Jo, told TVGuide.com. "It's really jarring. They think it's completely hypocritical. Jo is on damage control. She wants to do anything in her power that she can to make sure that she and Alex can still be together, but the powers that be make it extremely difficult for that to happen."

In the meantime, Jo has really stood by Alex, who is going through a hard time on season 10.

"In the first episode back, which picks up right after the wedding, you see Jo being kind of a rock for Alex because he's furious about what Shane has done to his dad," Luddington previously told TVLine.

When operating on Alex's father, Dr. Shane Ross had a psychiatric episode and thought he was operating on Heather, a Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital intern who died.

"He's distraught by it. And she's there for him. And she's also ready to go [toe-to-toe] with Shane. She hates Shane," Luddington added. "She's not for him staying at the hospital. So you see her get closer to Alex through that."
