Earth's mightiest heroes are preparing to assemble once more for The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Chris Hemsworth is busy talking up Joss Whedon's latest script.

Set to return as Thor, the hammer-swinging Asgardian, Hemsworth made a pit stop at Wizard World Sacramento before heading to the U.K. for filming. While answering fan questions, the god of thunder let it slip that the upcoming sequel to the 2012 blockbuster will be even more intense than its predecessor.

"Everything in Avengers is ramped up though. It kind of blew me away reading it," Hemsworth explained, according to Coming Soon. "I don't know how Joss does it, but everyone has just gone up another notch and the whole thing is bigger and more insane and crazy. Yeah, he's a genius."

The 30-year-old Australian is not the first Avengers actor to comment on the film. Mark Ruffalo (Bruce Banner/Hulk) and Scarlett Johansson (Blackwidow) have both praised Whedon's ability to keep up a healthy level of humor despite crafting a serious plot.

"I think the script is dark and it's dry, it's got this amazing one-liner, glass-cutting sense of humour," Johansson, who is returning to her role as Black Widow, told Parade magazine (via the Mirror). "Obviously the script is very cerebral. It doesn't lose that exciting comic book aspect that people enjoyed in the first film, but it's smart and it feels like the next installment."

The Avengers: Age of Ultron will focus on the team's battle against a evil of Tony Stark/Iron Man's (Robert Downey Jr.) own making and will also feature Captain America (Chris Evans), Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), Scarlett Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), the Vision (Paul Bettany), Ultron (James Spader), and Baron Wolfgang von Strucker (Thomas Kretschmann).

Age of Ultron will hit theaters on May 1, 2015. Click the video below to see a teaser.
