After finally escaping Katherine's takeover, Elena will face some more difficulties this season. She will also fall back into an old romance.

"If you thought Katherine being sucked into hell was bad, just wait until you see what Elena is about to go through," TVGuide teased. "Not only does she have the vampire-eating virus, but her hallucinations will also cause her to go a bit nutso."

In a teaser for the upcoming episode, entitled "While You Were Sleeping," Elena is seen dancing on a bar and desperately asking for a cure to the virus.

In a later scene, she confesses her love to ex-boyfriend Damon, who responds, "Well, then stop loving me." After she tells him she can't, the two share a passionate kiss. And, according to TVGuide, the kiss is "only the start of one crazy-hot hookup."

Elena may soon have to also worry about a new character that's coming to Mystic Falls. Chris Brochu, 24, will join the cast as Luke, a new student at Whitmore college, E! News reported.

The character was previously described by the website as a "hottie," "handsome" and "sarcastic." The new addition will also form a bond with Elena and Caroline.

However, Luke, who will make his debut on episode 16, won't be an innocent character since the website noted that he has a "secret agenda." He's come to Whitmore for "mysterious and dangerous reasons" involving the escalating conflict between the travelers and the witches.
