"J.J. Abrams came to the set last year and he is just about to do the next 'Star Wars' movie," she said. "He loves the show, and he checked a few of us to star in the film."

Abrams also dished about the British series, elaborating on how much he enjoys it.

"It's cleverly written and brilliantly cast," Abrams said. "It lets you enjoy what is- at the core, a pulpy family drama, but done with such respect and regard for the characters, you feel they're all alive."

On Wednesday, Variety reported that there were five actors who could be up for the leading role in the seventh film, one of them being Downton Abbey actor Ed Speleelers, who plays Jimmy Kent.

Other noteables who are rumored to be considered are John Boyega (Attack the Block), Jesse Plemmons (Breaking Bad), Matthew James Thomas (Billy Elliot) and theater actor Ray Fisher, amongst others.

Zac Efron is also in possible consideration for a role, according to MTV.
