After much controversy, Kim Kardashian finally landed the cover of Vogue. The reality star poses for the April issue wearing a wedding dress and standing in the arms of her husband-to-be, Kanye West.

The cover reads: "Their fashionable life and surreal times" along with a hashtag that deems them the "World's Most Talked About Couple."

"This is such a dream come true!!! Thank you @VogueMagazine for this cover!" Kardashian, 33, tweeted. "I can't even breath!"

Vogue.com also posted a behind-the-scenes video from the shoot that features the couple posing for photos taken by Annie Leibovitz as West's Bound 2 plays in the background. Their adorable daughter, North West, also appears in the clip.

The cover may come as a shock to some because of the speculation that the magazine's editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, wasn't a fan of the reality star and in turn banned her from the annual Met Gala in 2012. The event, hosted by Vogue, is arguably fashion's biggest night of the year.

West, 36, also advocated that his fiancée appear on the cover of the iconic fashion magazine because of her celebrity power.

"There's no way Kim Kardashian shouldn't be on the cover of Vogue. She's like the most intriguing woman right now. She's got Barbara Walters calling her like every day," he told Ryan Seacrest last October. "And collectively, we're the most influential with clothing."

It seems Wintour may agree with West's opinion. She revealed that putting West and Kardashian on the cover was entirely the magazine's decision and she also explained the reasoning in the Editor's Letter.

"Part of the pleasure of editing Vogue, one that lies in a long tradition of this magazine, is being able to feature those who define the culture at any given moment, who stir things up, whose presence in the world shapes the way it looks and influences the way we see it," she wrote. "I think we can all agree on the fact that that role is currently being played by Kim and Kanye to a T."

Wintour continued: "Kanye is an amazing performer and cultural provocateur, while Kim, through her strength of character, has created a place for herself in the glare of the world's spotlight, and it takes real guts to do that."
