Well this is a little awkward--Prince Harry has become the face of what is arguably one of the cruelest reality TV jokes ever.

Prince Harry's Father Told Him to Dump Cressida?

A new FOX show will feature a Prince Harry look-a-like, Matthew Hicks, who duped 12 American ladies into thinking they had a chance to actually date Prince Harry. Meanwhile, the prince has been dating longtime girlfriend Cressida Bonas for two years.

A synopsis for I Wanna Marry Harry reads: "Summer love is in the air, as an average English 'bloke' is given the royal treatment and an upper crust makeover before meeting 12 single American women searching for Prince Charming. Will he be able to convince them he's regal?

"And if he does, will they fall for the crown, or fall in love with the real him? Join 'Harry' as he courts each of the ladies, taking them on romantic dates worthy of a princess and trying to make some version of their fairytales come true."

It's no question Hicks looks like Prince Harry; he has even stood in for the royal in various appearances.

The network insists that none of the contestants were lied to. A rep for the network told Washington Post that they never told the ladies Hicks was actually Prince Harry. They simply know they are on a dating show and were shown a luxury British estate with a red-headed dashing gentleman, Hicks. The network also didn't correct the women's assumptions that it was Prince Harry.

I Wanna Marry Harry debuts on FOX on May 27.
