In New York City on March 24, the newest VH1 television stars gathered at Gotham Comedy Club to premiere their new show, This Is Hot 97. The radio station in which the show takes place is known for breaking some of hip hop's biggest names, and getting the brightest stars in the universe into their downtown NYC studios. Now, the personalities have taken on a new project and unlike the other shows Mona Scott Young has produced, this is not a reality show, at all. Our Enstars reporters were on the scene, in a new Enstars Exclusive.

For anyone who watched the recently released first episode of the series, the show is obviously not the ratchet reality that VH1 is known for. In fact, This is Hot 97 is a comedy that shows a satirical look at what goes on behind the scenes in the day-to-day lives of the voices behind Hot 97; Angie Martinez, Peter Rosenberg, Miss Info, Cipha Sounds, Ebro Darden, Laura Stylez, and Dj Flexx.

Ebro, former Program Director and co-host on the Hot 97 Morning Show, told Enstars during the premiere, "We wanted to have fun with the audience and people that know us and listen to us on the station," he said. "We wanted to take a different approach... We exaggerated some scenarios and made fun of ourselves."

For Mona Scott Young, the show's creator and founder of Monami Entertainment, this project is very different from what fans are used to seeing. Her other show, Love and Hip Hop (NY and ATL), is known for unbelievable adult behavior, which often is personally damaging to the stars but makes for great TV. So, she had to come up with a whole different concept to get Ebro and the Hot 97 team on board.

"After years and years of stalking Ebro, I was finally able to get him to agree after talking to the other guys," the media mogul revealed.

"They didn't want to do a traditional reality show, they didn't want to be followed around in their personal lives but I told them... People need to see who you guys are after the on-air light goes off," Young said.

The new series does just that and with guest appearances from Mack Wilds, Maino, and Macklemore in the first episode, the show is sure to be a success. Tune into the premiere on VH1 on Monday, March 31 at 10:30/9:30c.

But, just in case you will be out or asleep, watch the first episode for yourselves!
