As is the reality for many real life firefighters, tragedy is ever-present on NBC's Chicago Fire. In last week's episode, Candidate Rebecca Jones took her own life after succumbing to the immense pressure she found herself to be under. In tonight's episode, "A Heavy Weight," Firehouse 51 will have to deal with the burn of Jones' suicide, plus attend to a dangerous gas station fire, where a man ends up in flames.

During the April 8 installment, it was revealed that Jones had personal issues with her dad, who is also the chief of the fire department. Apparently, one day she and her mother had been in a car accident, but only she survived, and so her dad didn't want her to be in the hazardous firefighter atmosphere. While that may sound like he indeed cared about his daughter, it turns out that despite Jones' many efforts, her father failed to show her any true affection.

According to reports, the scorch of Jones' suicide sets the stage for tonight's episode, in which Firehouse 51 will also have to attend to a different blaze, when an emergency breaks out at the gas station. "When a man's wife is stuck inside of an SUV, unable to move due to a leg brace, Firehouse 51 is forced to prioritize," said the report Monday.

Additionally, instead of waiting on the crew to safely rescue his wife, he runs toward the flames, which adds fuel to the fire and exacerbates the situation.
