Kandi Burrus Play 'A Mother's Love': 'The Real Housewives of Atlanta' Star Used Mama Joyce As 'Muse'? [VIDEO]
Kandi Burruss has confirmed what fans have thought all along—that her musical A Mother's Love was inspired by her real-life relationship with her mom, Mama Joyce.

Viewers couldn't help but notice that there were several similarities between Mama Joyce and the mother of Burruss's character in the play. The mother didn't like her boyfriend and constantly tried to do outlandish things to break them up. Avid The Real Housewives of Atlanta watchers know that was Burruss's and Mama Joyce's signature storyline this season as she did several antics in hopes of breaking up Burruss and her now husband, Todd Tucker.
Burruss took to her Bravo blog to confess that the similarities were more than just a coincidence.

She wrote, "Whatever I'm dealing with personally I always use it creatively. that is how I express myself. That is how I deal and keep myself from going crazy. The musical obviously was inspired by what I was and am stil dealing with to a certain extent with my mom. Some of the things that she has said I used for inspiration for the story and songs."
Burruss used the example of times her mom has spread rumors about Todd and claimed her source was "People in the streets." So she used that to her advantage and wrote a song for the play called People in the Streets, that the mother character, played by As We Lay singer Shirley Murdock, sang.
Other examples include Mama Joyce worrying if Tucker would be a good provider, and consistently letting Burruss know "I love you more than I love myself."
Still, there was one thing that has happened in the play that Burruss is still hoping for with Mama Joyce.
She added, "I can give you lots of examples of how my mother was my muse for this project. The only difference was I added a happy ending tot he story where the mom and the boyfriend made peace at the end...I want so badly for that happen."
