The NBC series is inching towards the end of its freshman series, and Red (James Spader) is currently locked in a mutually assured destruction cold war with the venerable Fitch (Alan Alda). However, once Berlin arrives on the scene, Red's problems with Alda's character could prove trifling.

"The wrong move by either one of them could destroy each other. As far as where that may go, that conversation between Fitch and Red is likely not finished."

Who Is Number One On Red's Blacklist? When Will The Top Criminal Be Revealed?

Only if the FBI can keep Berlin from getting to Red, first that is. Tom's (Ryan Eggold) mysterious employer is coming to town during his eponymous episode (airing May 5), and it looks like Red's entire Blacklist plan has been entirely devoted to discovering his ultimate opponent's identity.

Unfortunately, Red may not have his greatest ally on his side in his moment of greatest need.

"The biggest problem, really, that Red is facing at the moment is that he is sort of losing Liz in a strange and very dangerous way at a time when he needs Liz the most," Bokenkamp told Beyond the Blacklist.
