Vikings' King Horick is no more, felled by his own greed for power and Ragnar's absolute retaliation.

The regal Dane met his bloody end in the Vikings season 2 finale, "The Lord's Prayer." Reassured by Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) and Siggy's (Jessalyn Gilsig) seeming flip in allegiance, Horick (Daniel Logue) stormed his former ally's home only to walk directly into a trap.

It's not too hard to guess how Ragnar (Travis Fimmel) reacted to the dastardly betrayal. Alas, poor Horick, you are no more.

Logue, who recently signed on to play Detective Harvey Bullock in Gotham, was not surprised at the writer's decision to pit Ragnar and Horick against each other in a deadly confrontation

"Playing one of these guys whose game is power and how to maintain power, how to increase their faith or wealth, [they're] using people a bit like pawns to help their game," Logue explained to The Hollywood Reporter. "If there are two alpha dogs in the backyard, something's got to give. I knew the journey was coming to a him-versus-him thing."

Unfortunately for Horik, his dying wish and Ragnar's final promise were invalidated when someone forced his children to meet the same fate as him.

Vikings airs on the History Channel and will return for season 3 in 2015. Click the video below to see a preview for the finale.
