As she often does when she attends an event, Rihanna turned heads with her ensemble on Thursday night at the first-ever iHeartRadio music awards sporting a gothic look and bantu knots. Yet, it was also her acceptance speech for the Best Fan Army award that was just as memorable.

Upon accepting the honor at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, the 26-year-old toasted to her millions of fans and screamed "Rihanna Navy."

"It's not easy what we do. It's very difficult at times. It's a lot of pressure to be a lot of things. And I've never felt comfortable being anything other than myself and I just thank my fans for being supportive and embracing that, embracing that freedom and that liberation," she said. "We are a family. We stick together. I love you guys."

The superstar also referenced the other musicians in the audience and said that during the moments when they feel discouraged, they lean on their fans for comfort.

"There are times when it gets really difficult but when we think about the fans and the people who support us, that's what keeps us going," she said.

It was a big night for the singer, who also won Artist of the Year. She snagged the award from Justin Timberlake, Imagine Dragons, Maroon 5 and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis. Additionally, she took home the award for Hip Hop/R&B Song of the Year for Pour It Up, and Song of the Year for her ballad Stay.
