Damian Lewis, who starred as Nicholas Brody for the first three seasons of Homeland, recently sat down to reflect upon his time on the show and how much he misses his onscreen love interest.

Carrie's Baby a 'Big Theme' of Season 4?

Lewis was interviewed in the latest TimeTalks, where he got emotional while watching a clip from Homeland.

"I miss Danesy!" he says in the clip, referring to co-star Claire Danes. "I miss her! They'll be starting up again now."

Brody's Death Casts A Shadow Over Carrie As Homeland Moves Forward?

Danes, who plays Carrie Mathison on the series, was Lewis' onscreen partner throughout much of Homeland, though the doomed lovers torn apart often. Carrie witnessed Brody's hanging and ultimate death in Iran in the Season 3 finale, setting the show in a whole new direction.

Lewis admits in the video that he did not initially want to do Homeland, but was influenced by the people involved, such as Danes and Mandy Patinkin, who plays Saul Berenson, and other reasons.

"I very nearly didn't do it, for personal reasons," Lewis says. "But there were just too many compelling reasons to do it, so I did and I'm extremely happy."

Lewis says that his character was an honest man regardless of what he was caught up in.

"The thing about Brody is he was a pawn in a larger game, and was burdened by having so many paymasters. It was hard for him to know who he was in any given situation." he says.

As Homeland moves forward into Season 4, it will be without the central Brody conflict that was integral to the show since the beginning. Carrie will be in the Islamabad with her team as they do their best to put an end to more acts of terrorism.

Homeland Season 4 premieres this fall on Showtime, though the network has not yet announced a specific premiere date.
