As season 5 of The Good Wife recently wrapped, Josh Charles, whose character Will's death was a highlight, recently talked about his role and the show in an interview.

Speaking to RTE in an interview dated May 28, the actor spoke about the merits of the CBS legal drama.

"I think it's well-done television, it's timely," he added. "I think the writers do a great job of working in storylines that are interesting and informative but not preachy or pretentious."

Charles went on to state that the show strikes dramatic and satirical.

"I think the show is dramatic and at times satirical," he said. "I think it combines different tones in a very good way and it never loses sight of its being there to entertain which I think is a very good driving force behind the show and leads to it not being pretentious which is what I appreciate about it.

Charles also spoke about his fictional lover on the show Alicia Florrick, played by Julianna Margulies. He spoke of Alicia's qualities.

"I think I would say that or her innate dignity, grace and goodness to do the right thing and to, and to be a good parent and to try and be a good wife as much as she could," he said. "I think all those things that she sort of leads in a very good, positive way."

The highlight of the finale for season 5 was Eli Gould (Alan Cumming) proposing Alicia (Julianna Margulies) becomea candidate for State's Attorney. The cliffhanger obviously had to do with the big decision Alicia will have to take now.

The finale, titled A Weird Year, aired on May 18.
