As the season 5 premiere of ABC's hit show Rookie Blue draws closer, fans will not have missed a beat since the fourth season finale aired.

Andy Ruins Relationship With Nick?

Peter Mooney (Nick Collins) told HuffPost Canada recently, "We did a really interesting thing this year, where it picks up where we left off. We pick up at the hospital.

It will be exciting for the audience because last season ended with so much stuff up in the air and we didn't resolve anything in the downtime."

Sam And Andy 'Have To Change' To Work?

During the finale criminal Kevin Ford shot Officer Chloe Price (Priscilla Faia) before he turned the gun on Officer Sam Swarek (Ben Bass). In the premiere, Sam fights or his life and is forced to go into surgery after excessive bleeding. Chloe is recovering as well.

As for Nick, it looks like he decided to walk away from Andy just in time in the finale. In the upcoming new episode, Sam's life threatening situation gives her a wakeup call and she tells Sam, "I love you. You're my story."

Mooney said, "Nick stepped away in the season finale last year. Those life and death situations sometimes bring things into a sharp focus. Right off the top, Nick takes himself out of the equation. That's though because we all come to work every day. It's difficult, especially at the beginning of the season, but it will be on to different adventures for him."

Mooney added that Nick begins to focus on his career more than his love life. But still, viewers learn lots more about his background and past that could explain his way of doing things.

Rookie Blue airs on ABC in the U.S. June 19 at 9/8c.
