Once Gail introduced Holly to the important people in her life, like her brother, as well as Chris, it was pretty obvious to viewers that Holly was here to stay.

Still, executive producer for Rookie Blue Tassie Cameron, told TV Line recently that the specifics of their relationship are still being worked out.

Dov Questions Chloe When Her Husband Arrives?

"There's probably lots more to be done on that. I don't think just introducing somebody is enough. There's probably a lot more challenges ahead of her on that. But yes, we were trying to explore the idea, in this episode, that in times of great chaos and stress, the truth is sometimes revealed to people about themselves or about their relationships, about their heart and souls.

While it seems pretty cut and dry, Charlotte Sullivan, who portrays Gail, said recently that she feels there is no need to explain or define her relationship

"She's going through a bit of a renaissance right now. I think a lot of people wanted me to sort of define like, what her sexuality was and I don't think you needed to. She just fell in love with someone and it happened to be a woman."

As Gail faces lots of ups and downs this season, Sullivan opened up about playing a police officer and confessed she's not sure how long her character will be around on Rookie Blue.

"Even in Season 1, I always thought I was going to be fired and so my character would die. I've never thought it was in the bag. Before I started shooting Rookie  I was working a joe-schmo job. And I'm fully prepared to go back to that. This had been my gig for the last five years and I know that's an incredible gift because actors don't always get that kind of certainty."

Tune in to the Rookie Blue fifth season premiere June 19 at 9/8c on ABC.
