Teen brothers Dariel and Emil recently put their own spin on a Jimi Hendrix classic on NBCs summer talent competition America's Got Talent.

"We've been practicing a long time for this..." said Emil prior to their audition, "There's a certain intuition between us."

The brothers both play the cello, having received lessons from their grandfather since they were four years old. Their grandfather originally emigrated to the United States with nothing to his name but a cello and earned his living through the instrument. Dariel and Emil maintain that they are dedicated to their grandfather's instruction. Their grandfather, in turn, is dedicated to the boys, claiming that their music has even brought them to tears.

When the brothers auditioned for the competition last week, their grandfather was watching in the wings as they performed. As the brothers began, the crowd erupted into cheers at the unexpectedness of the piece. The judges also seemed to have expected something more traditional from a pair of cellists.

The brother's made quite an impression by instead performing a classic of a different kind, Hendrix's Purple Haze. The two demonstrated skill, showmanship, and a uniquely synchronized sense of timing during their rock performance, receiving a standing ovation from the judges.

Much to the delight of the brothers, as well as their beaming grandfather, the act was unanimously voted into the next round of the competition.
