Boardwalk Empire returns to HBO this fall, and actor Michael K. Williams recently opened up about the prohibition drama's final season.

Williams, who plays Chalky White on the show, talked with Global Grind TV (featured below) about his new film The Purge: Anarchy and his time on HBO's The Wire.

The actor then moved into what might be in store for Chalky this season on Boardwalk Empire. He confirmed talk about the series moving into The Great Depression and how that has influenced all of the characters, his included. There will be a seven-year time jump between Season 4 and Season 5, which will result in significant changes for the characters.

Chalky in particularly has gone through quite a lot. When Season 4 ended, he'd recently suffered the accidental death of his daughter, which brought him unimaginable grief.

"He [Chalky] has a vendetta...a score to settle," explained Williams of Season 5, adding that Chalky has "lost the twinkle in his eye... will he get that back ever, we don't know."

Williams talked about Boardwalk Empire coming to an end after five years and what it's like to see the show go. "It's bittersweet..." he admitted, which has been the consensus for actors on a number of shows ending this year.

"Five years on HBO was long lived, we know that..." he continued, "I'm grateful to have the time on the show. I am going to miss my coworkers... we got a real bond."

The fifth and final season of Boardwalk Empire returns on HBO Fall 2014.
