Fans of The Walking Dead might want to brace themselves for the fifth season because they're likely about to come across something they've never seen before.

Season 5 Premiere Will Be 'The Biggest Episode?'

On Saturday, Collider posted some details from showrunner Scott M. Gimple, who revealed what viewers can expect as well as where his ideas are coming from.

"It's not mirroring [the previous season] completely...the challenge of the show is every eight episodes, it's a whole new show," he said. "I will say that there may be some slightly familiar structural turns. But for the most part, it is going to be brand new versions of the comic story."

Main Character Could Be The Next To Die?

This gives some insight towards the premiere and the chaos that could take place in the first part of the season, and how similar it will be to what happens in the comic book series.

The showrunner also dished on how he came up with the structure for Season 4, and how it was different from the comics.

"In the comics, there isn't as big of a group," Gimple said. "A lot fewer people made it out of the prison. We had this huge group to get back together and at the beginning of the year, I wanted to have a story for every character and to fulfill that story in the end. Some of the stuff we laid in the first episode, we didn't get to until the back half. That was purposeful."

The Walking Dead Season 5 is expected to premiere in October on AMC.
