'America's Got Talent/ Judge Defends Act 'On His Knees'

While program had its share of risky acts on Tuesday, one proved to more original than the average musical number seen on the show's stage.

The Connecticut-based band Beach Avenue received a standing ovation from the judges after performing an original song Coming Your Way.

While all three members of the band have day jobs, their goal is to make a living playing music. Prior to the start of their performance they announced that they were going to do an original song, even noting that they were aware that Judge Howie Mandel doesn't think it's a good idea to bands to audition with original music.

Mandel was amused by their knowledge of the show, and by the end of the number found himself won over by the band, admitting that he really did enjoy the song.

All four judges agreed that the band was incredibly strong as a whole. "I'm even more impressed with your talent because you do an original song," insisted judge Howard Stern, "So you've set the bar high for other bands".

With unanimous approval from the judges, Beach Avenue moved forward into the next round of the competition.
