The 42-year-old actor proposed to the entertainment reporter, 33, on Wednesday night during an intimate family dinner at Mastro's Ocean Club in Malibu. The couple's baby boy, Charlie West, and Arquette's daughter, Coco, were in attendance. Arquette planted a large blue stone on McLarty's ring finger, according to E! News.

"He wanted his family to be with him when he did it," a source also told People magazine. "They are going to vacation in Aspen to celebrate."

Arquette and McLarty have been involved since 2011 and welcomed their baby in April.

The proposal comes days after Arquette's ex-wife Courteney Cox announced her own engagement. The former Friends star and Snow Patrol musician Johnny McDaid got engaged on June 26 after six months of dating. Cox made the announcement via Twitter by posting a photo of the two with the caption, "I'm engaged to him!"

The mother of 10-year-old Coco and Arquette were married for 11 years before they finalized their divorce last May.

During her Jan. 7 appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Cox opened up about her relationship with Arquette after their split and revealed that they are in a good place.

"Now it's great. We actually all had dinner the other night," she said. "The whole family. It's a very unique relationship. All of us like literally, me and Christina and David and Coco. It's great though."
