Fans of The Notebook were dealt a harsh blow after news broke that Ryan Gosling was expecting a child with girlfriend Eva Mendes, and the actress' latest public spotting seems to confirm that she is indeed pregnant with his child.

Ryan Gosling & Eva Mendes Expecting?

Just hours after rumors began circulating that the Place Beyond the Pines co-stars were expecting a child, 40-year-old Mendes was spotted leaving a parking structure in L.A. July 7--when TMZ photographers caught up with her.

The actress, who sported platform wedges, sunglasses and a black-and-white horizontally striped dress, quickly moved to awkwardly cover up her belly, going through contortions and using a Birkin bag and an armful of scarves to cover up.

Though she did manage to avoid getting a photo confirming she was with child taken, her actions seem to attest to the fact that she may, in fact, be seven months pregnant with Gosling's child.

The couple, who have weathered an onslaught of breakup rumors during their on/off three-year romance, were first rumored to be expecting by OK! Magazine, which claimed to receive its information from an inside source.

"She's been ready for motherhood for a while now," the insider told the magazine. "and to be sharing this experience with Ryan is a dream come true for her!"

Pregnancy rumors first surrounded the couple earlier this winter, when Mendes reportedly told TSA officials at Los Angeles International Airport that she didn't want to go through the body scan because she was pregnant, but her reps shot the rumor down, saying she always preferred to be hand checked.

Her body language at a pop-up shop event for her collection with New York and Company at the Beverly Center in March was also questionable, as she kept her stomach covered during an interview with a clutch.

Being pregnant is also a change from the actress' previously stated views on having children, as she told W Magazine in 2010 that she wasn't sure if motherhood was for her.

"I've never had a longing to have children," she said at the time. I've been thinking about it lately because it's like, 'Oh God, am I going to do this?' I don't know is the answer."

Unlike his girlfriend however, Gosling has expressed a desire to be a father in the past.

"I'd like to be making babies but I'm not, so I'm making movies," he said back in 2011. "When someone comes along, I don't think I'll be able to do both and I'm fine with that."

"I'll make movies until I make babies," he added.
