Gary Oldman, who starred as Commissioner Gordon in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight trilogy, has revealed his thoughts on the upcoming Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he does not seem particularly sold on the idea just yet.

Doing press for his latest movie, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Oldman was asked by Yahoo U.K. what he thought of the upcoming Batman v Superman movie and he was very candid.

"They want to keep it going. Of course they do. But, it's Superman yeah? Batman and Superman together? We shall see," he said. "The thing about Nolan, there was some grounding of reality to it. In our trilogy, and as fantastical and as big as The Joker was, it was based [on reality]... we could relate to it."

He elaborated that bringing Batman together with "a guy who can fly who's an alien" made him a bit skeptical that it could work.

"It's got big shoes to fill," he stated.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice features Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) coming together for the first time on the big screen. Other characters set to appear in the highly anticipated blockbuster film include Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), Lex Luthor (Jesse Eisenberg), Alfred the butler (Jeremy Irons), and characters from Man of Steel Lois Lane (Amy Adams), Perry White (Laurence Fishburne) and Martha Kent (Diane Lane).

Holly Hunter will be appearing in the film as a yet-to-be-announced character while Jason Momoa is strongly suggested to be playing Aquaman.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled for release in theaters on May 6, 2016.
