"Jesus was wrong," claimed Chalky White (Michael K Williams) when a young girl told him that everyone is entitled to forgiveness in the eyes of Jesus, and so began the second teaser released for season five of the HBO prohibition drama.

Brief clips throughout the preview showed Jillian Darmody (Gretchen Mol) straitjacketed, Margaret Schroeder (Kelly Macdonald) continuing her secret work for Arnold Rothstein (Michael Stuhlbarg), and Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) losing his temper with another man.

Set to the song St. James by Gutter Twins, the preview confirmed that Mol and Macdonald will be reprising their roles. The end of season four had left their continuation in the series relatively uncertain, with Jillian going to prison and Margaret finally finding a stable home for her children.

Lucky Luciano (Vincent Piazza) and Al Capone (Stephen Graham) also appeared in the teaser, hinting perhaps hinting that their characters will follow history and rise to power during the season.

From the various clips of a broken White, still haunted by the death of his daughter, things seem to have taken a dark turn for the man. One image even shows him working outside in prison attire.

The preview drew to a close with the words "No one goes quietly," which is the tagline of the program's most recent promotional poster.

Boardwalk Empire returns to HBO for a fifth and final season Sunday, September 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
