The Vikings cast will lose an important member before season 3 comes to an end.

Why Is Lagertha Covered In Blood In 'Vikings' Season 3 PHOTO?

Series creator Michael Hirst sailed into the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con on Friday with four Lothbroks and a bit of unsettling news.

An undisclosed character will kick the bucket when Vikings returns to History Channel next spring, but it won't be any Lothbrok that attended the panel. Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), Rollo (Clive Standen), and Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) are safe (for now), according to IGN.

However, the site reports that the death will be of a "beloved" character. That leaves anyone from Athelstan (George Blagden) to Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård) open for the taking.

"Everybody dies...it's history," Standen joked following the grim announcement.

Meanwhile, the Vikings' world will see an upgrade from the rustic landscape of Kettegat when Ragnar launches a raid on Paris.

"[The Raid] is a real transformative moment for the series," said Julian Hobbs, VP of scripted and nonfiction development and programming at History, according to IGN. "We've essentially been in the Dark Ages in terms of tone and feel. Paris is highly modern city. Technologically it's highly advanced. It would be like trying to sack Manhattan today."
