It had previously been reported that Jessica Biel would guest star on the fourth season premiere episode of FOX's New Girl as a woman competing with Zooey Deschanel's Jess for the affection of a man.

Jessica Biel To Guest Star On New Girl

Well, now that man has been cast. On Monday, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Veep's Reid Scott will be playing the role of the object of both Biel and Deschanel's affection.

The season premiere will take place at a wedding, where the regular gang of the show will compete to try and score a romantic conquest. Jess will set her sights on Scott's Ted, but will have to compete with Biel's Kat, who is described as being "the hottest scientist in the world."

Scott plays Dan Egan on HBO's critically adored Veep, one of the many morally bankrupt character surrounding Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Selina Meyers. Scott is also appearing in the upcoming Nancy Meyers film The Intern. Presumably, Scott's character on New Girl will be more likeable than his Veep character. It would be very hard for him not to be.

New Girl begins its fourth season September 16 on FOX. The third season focused primarily on the romantic relationship between Jess and her roommate Nick, played by Jake Johnson. However, show creator Liz Meriwether has said that she is hoping to make this fourth season a little lighter and more fun, and that perhaps it is better to keep Jess and Nick uncoupled for the time being. It gave them the chance to bring in two guest stars for some wedding shenanigans to start the fourth season, so its benefiting them already.
