Boardwalk Empire will be starting up its final season in a little over a month and the closer it gets to the premiere, the more HBO teases out the prohibition drama's final episodes.

On Monday HBO released Boardwalk Empire Season 5: Invitation to the Set (featured below), a two-minute featurette offering a sneak peek of what viewers can expect in the approaching episodes.

Picking things up a few years after the events of Season 4, the premiere will begin in 1931. According to series creator Terence Winter, things have changed drastically. "The country's starting to slide into economic turmoil," he explained, noting that prohibition is coming to an end.

Juggling, Comedy, & Tap Dancing With Boardwalk Empire's Steve Buscemi

In Season 1, Jimmy Darmody (Michael Pitt) told Nucky Thompson (Steve Buscemi) that "you can't be half a gangster, not anymore." With prohibition coming to a close, Thompson seems to be looking to find a way out of the gangster business. "Nucky has an opportunity to finally move his operation into the legitimate world" added Winter as he explained that Thompson will be spending some time trying to make a deal with Bacardi in Cuba to prepare for the impending legalization of alcohol.

It looks like the drama will also be heading into some old uncharted territory, exploring Thompson's childhood through vivid flashbacks. "We see the events that shaped Nucky's past," said Winter, "And the events that led to his becoming who he grew up to be."

Fans can expect to see a changing world, complete with economic, political, technological, and especially criminal changes. "It looks like the show," admitted Winter, "And yet it looks like a new version of the show."

Boardwalk Empire returns to HBO for its fifth and final season Sunday, September 7 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
