Arrested by Agent May (Ming-Na Wen) during last springs "Beginning of the End," Ward (Brett Dalton) is on his own for the first time since he was a teen. Under the thumb of Agent Garrett (Bill Paxton) for a large portion of his life, Ward will need to learn how to live without The Clairvoyant's orders.

"He spent his whole life being a follower and being told what to do," said executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen, according to TV Guide. "Now he's in our custody and alone, so what does that mean for him? Season 2 is Ward continuing to discover what he wants."

However, it may be a bit impractical for Ward to stay behind bars for the entire season. While it seems likely that he will eventually battle his way out, Ward will definitely not become the Punisher.

"That's not going to happen," said executive producer Jeph Loeb, according to Nerdist. "But what is going to happen is equally cool."
