Even though music stars Katy Perry and John Mayer ended their relationship a while ago, the "Dark Horse" singer gave a hint on what it was in Mayer that might have attracted her to him.

On Tuesday, Rolling Stone posted random facts about Perry, one of them being that she's tried dating guys who aren't famous. She said that a guy she dates doesn't necessarily have to be famous, but it helps when someone has the same understanding of living that life.

"They understand what it means when you're tired from a show or the tour's exhausting you or if an interview went wrong- they know all the ins and outs, so you can just walk in to the house with a certain face and they understand, you know?" Perry said. "Rather than, like, having to explain everything and that takes two, three hours."

The "Birthday" singer then revealed something else she likes to have in common with guys, which is something that she and Mayer obviously had in common.

"And what I really like is someone that understands music because I love music," Perry said. "So anybody that understands the power of music, I'm usually instantly attracted to."

Even though she didn't say her ex-boyfriend's name for this part, this information about Perry gives the impression on why she may have had a thing for Mayer before.

The pop star also revealed that she never wanted to be famous, and it's a "byproduct" of what she does.

"People want to be recognized for their work, but nobody wants to be famous for nothing," she said. "Fame is, I think, disgusting."
