After a fatal accident took place at a racecar event on Saturday involving the death of Kevin Ward, Jr., Tony Stewart released a statement after the tragedy took place.

Over the weekend, Ward, Jr. was racing at Canandaigua Motorsports Park when he stepped out of his vehicle and made his way towards the middle of the road where racecars were still going. Unfortunately, Stewart's car ran into Ward, Jr. where he was killed.
According to Hollywood Life, the possible reason that Ward, Jr. stepped out of his car was to yell at Stewart for spinning his car out.

One day after the tragedy took place, Stewart released his grief over the situation that was posted on ESPN on Sunday.
"There aren't words to describe the sadness I feel about the accident that took the life of Kevin Ward Jr," the driver said. "It's a very emotional time for all involved, and it is the reason I've decided not to participate in today's race at Watkins Glen. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and everyone affected by this tragedy."
Ward's family also released a statement, which was kept brief.
"We appreciate the prayers and support we are receiving from the community, but we need time to grieve and wrap our heads around all of this."
NASCAR then revealed their condolences over the situation.
"Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends and fellow competitors of Kevin Ward, Jr. We support Tony Stewart's decision to miss today's race and we will continue to respect the process and timeline of the local authorities and will continue to monitor this situation moving forward."
