Chasing Life just ended its summer finale, but details have already been released of how things will begin when the series returns.

Leo To Experience 'New Opportunities' With April?

On Tuesday, TV Guide posted an interview with showrunner Patrick Sean Smith who talked about the mysterious voicemail that Leo left for April. The next new episode is supposed to start right away after this moment, and was supposed to be a big moment for April to experience.

"We definitely wanted a final moment of ambiguity, of what exactly was happening not just to show April's concern for Leo, but also how important he's become in her life post-diagnosis," Smith said. "I can say with certainty that it will be answered immediately at the top of our holiday episode, which I believe will air in December. That episode will pick up right where we left off with that voicemail."

'Life Or Death' Summer Finale Chatter

The showrunner also talked about April's treatment now that she's started chemotherapy. This will likely be an emotional time based on the title of one of the episodes.

"I think she's made it to five days of treatment by the end of this finale and then the holiday episode will pick up with those remaining two, and then also dealing with her losing her hair from the chemo," Smith said. "The episode is called 'Locks of Love.'"

The showrunner also mentioned that April will be "trying to resume some normalcy in her life," which has a chance of having more heart-wrenching results.

Chasing Life airs on Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET on ABC Family.
