The Originals is one of The CW's darkest programs, but off set the actors are all fun and games.

Klaus Could Kill Mikael In Upcoming 'The Originals' Episode

In a recent interview with TV Fanatic (featured below), stars Joseph Morgan (Klaus), Daniel Gillies (Elijah), and Charles Michael Davis (Marcel) opened up about the next season, as well as revealing some surprising truths.

"I actually never saw Vampire Diaries," admitted Davis as Morgan discussed the shift from a supporting role on The Vampire Diaries to the leading role on the series' spin-off.

Josh, Elijah, & Oliver Form Unlikely Alliance On 'The Originals'

In spite of being experienced performers, the actors found themselves a little tongue-tied in discussing the show's upcoming season. As Morgan fumbled to describe his character, Gillies jumped in for a save while marveling at some fellow The CW stars.

"More importantly," he began, "Why is the cast from Supernatural all so much taller than all of us?"

"And so handsome," agreed Davis.

The three spent a few moments trying to stand on their toes in an attempt to seem taller, but to no avail. "Every time I hug Jared Padalecki," said a deadpan Morgan in reference to the 6'4" actor who's portrayed Sam Winchester on Supernatural for nearly ten years, "I feel like a child in his arms."

Slowly the three regained focus, managing to get out a few carefully selected words regarding The Originals' upcoming season.

"It's going to be interesting…" claimed Gillies, "I don't think anybody has romantic intentions at the moment it's all just so dark… this chapter is so bleak."

As for alliances? Klaus and Marcel seem to have a truce for the time being, and Davis likes it that way. "I prefer them on the same side," he admitted, "I think they work well together. They're a good team."

How long will the teamwork last? Nothing is ever certain on the series and producers have admitted that the storylines for the upcoming episodes will move at a pretty fast pace.

The Originals returns to The CW for a second season on Monday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
