It seems the world is a place where Dwayne Johnson has his pick at two different characters in the DC universe and he can feel the weight of picking sitting on his shoulders. Maybe it isn't that dramatic, but the actor is certainly taking his time with the pick.

What We Know So Far About 'Justice League'

In an interview on Monday with the Associated Press, Johnson confirmed that he was deciding between playing Shazam or Black Adam for DC. Shazam is a hero, while Black Adam is the hero's arch-nemesis.

"I am putting my heart and soul and my bones into this role," Johnson said. He added that he didn't want to let comic book fans down.

'Justice League' Movie To Come Early 2017?

It would be hard to imagine DC bringing in Johnson to play a villain that wouldn't get as much screen time as the heroes, but Marvel has made Tom Hiddleston's Loki a superstar and he doesn't have the appeal of Johnson when it comes to box office draw.

It is also fair to mention the upcoming trend of super villains getting their own movies like Sony is doing with Sinister Six and Venom. It could be that he plays Black Adam and the character becomes popular and will be DC's version of Loki.

Either way, Johnson was noncommittal as to if he would appear in next year's Batman v Superman where it seems like most every character in the upcoming DC universe will at least be showing up in a cameo. But if he does choose Shazam, it would be a safe bet that the hero shows up in Justice League before moving on to a standalone movie.

Justice League is set to open in theaters in 2017.
