Rihanna will sit down in an exclusive interview to open an all-new season of "Oprah's Next Chapter."

Winfrey, who has brought in record ratings for her OWN network with the show, interviewed the "Birthday Cake" singer in her native country of Barbados.

"She's a global phenomenon who's won five Grammys and has scored 11 number one singles. Now, Oprah sits down with music superstar Rihanna on her home island of Barbados, where it all began," reads the website.

Winfrey gave Rihanna a lecture about getting back together with Brown on her "Oprah" show in 2009 in an interview with model Tyra Banks, according to bossip.com.

"Let me tell you why she got back with him, in my opinion," Winfrey said. "If you go back with a man who hits you, it is because you don't feel you're worthy of being with a man who won't."

Winfrey said returning to an abusive relationship boils down to how the victim feels about herself. "If you were raised right," she said, "and think you are a wonderful person, somebody hitting you is really offensive to you. This show is dedicated to all the Rihannas of the world, and to any young men who could ever think about hurting a woman."

Rihanna later tweeted: "I hear Oprah and what she's saying but at the same time she don't know what's best for me I do respect her though".

Winfrey has had success scoring exclusive interviews in television, music, film and religion  with "Keeping Up With The Kardashians" family, Bobbi Kristina and the Houston family shortly after Whitney's death, Katherine Jackson after Michael's death, 50 Cent, television chef Paula Deen, Steven Tyler, Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes and more.

"Oprah's Next Chapter" returns Sunday, August 19 at 9/8c with the Rihanna interview on OWN.
