It looks as though Sofia Vergara has a good explanation behind the reason why she didn't bring her boyfriend Joe Manganiello to the Emmy Awards on Monday night. The Modern Family star says that she preferred to leave him at home because he was "too handsome and too hot" for the ceremony.

The Colombian beauty made the revelation on the red carpet while being interviewed by E! correspondent Giuliana Rancic, according to Page Six.

"You know what I'm going to ask," Rancic said before questioning the actress about her relationship.

"He's really hot, that's why I didn't bring him," said Vergara, after a laugh. "He's too hot, too tall. He takes up a lot of space. So I'm like, please, Joe, don't come... Too handsome, too sexy."

The 42-year-old actress also added: "We're having a lot of fun. We've been going out just for like two months and a half and he's a really funny guy, which is something very important for me. And a very nice guy."

Meanwhile, it was no secret that Manganiello, 37, found Vergara attractive as he raved about her to People when he covered the magazine's Hottest Bachelors issue in June. "She's got the curves, she's got a beautiful face, beautiful hair, just gorgeous. Naturally beautiful. She's feisty!" he said.

Their new romance started two months after Vergara announced her split from fiancé Nick Loeb, whom she had been dating since 2010.

"Not that anyone should care, but in order to not give the press the chance to invent crazy and hurtful drama, I prefer to tell my fans personally that Nick and I have decided to be apart," the 42-year-old wrote in May on her WhoSay account. "We have been having too many problems with figuring out how to spend time together and because of my work and now his, it's been getting worse and worse. Not fun anymore."
