With the role of Mary Jane Watson looking like the next big character joining the Spider-Man universe, and names like Shailene Woodley and Margot Robbie being thrown around for the role, Sony may look to go for an actress on the cusp of stardom for the role.

Gwen Stacy Storyline Could Still Continue In 'Amazing Spider-Man 3'

Another name that would make sense for the role, both because she has yet to get that breakout role and she has shown enough charisma to take on a character like Mary Jane, is Evil Dead and Suburgatory star Jane Levy.

Levy's largest credit to date is starring in Fede Alvarez' remake of the classic horror comedy, made by the original Spider-Man director, Sam Raimi. She has also gone on to have a supporting role in Shameless, starred in the ABC show Suburgatory, and had small parts in independent films like About Alex and Bang Bang Baby.

Will 'The Amazing Spider-Man 3' Plot Center Around The Hunt Of The Web-Slinger?

She fits the bill pretty well with her mixture of cuteness and humor that seems oddly similar to former Spider-Man love interest Emma Stone that would fit into the franchise nicely. It also would be her "breakout" role and Sony could lock up an actress, who as of right now, isn't link to any other "big" project.

Other names like Woodley and Robbie have been linked to the role but seem like a long shot because of the other commitments the actresses have. Woodley is running her own franchise, Divergent, at the time while Robbie is beginning to get big with roles in Tarzan and a possible leading part in Ghost in the Shell.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is expected out in 2018.
