A new report suggests that there will be an exciting little treat for The Lord of the Rings fans in the final movie of The Hobbit trilogy, The Battle of the Five Armies.

The Christian Today report doesn't reveal much more about which characters are set to feature. Recently, it was also rumored that unreleased footage from the Lord of the Rings will feature in the final of The Hobbit trilogy.

But it seems like director Peter Jackson's words were misunderstood in an interview he did with GigJets.com. Jackson had stated that "unreleased footage" from the Lord of the Rings will feature as a bonus in new LOTR releases.

"There are a few scenes that haven't been seen from Lord of the Rings, but not many. We might try to put them back in," he said. "It's a big logistical thing which hasn't wrapped our heads around. But if there's enough interest [we might]."

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies also features on the cover of the September issue of Empire magazine and director Peter Jackson dished about what fans can expect from the movie in an interview for the story.

"I think of this third movie as a psychological thriller with actions scenes interspersed in the middle of it," he said. "It has for a very tight narrative structure."

To bring out the much anticipated duel between Bard the Bowman, played by Luke Evans, and the dragon Smaug, portrayed by Benedict Cumberbacth, the magazine has two covers. One features the dragon while the other showcases Bard, and the covers are being pitted as "Bard vs. Smaug."

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will hit theaters on December 18.
