In a recent interview with actress Julie Newmar, who made Catwoman famous, opened up about her views on the new Batman.

Newmar played the original Catwoman in the 1960s' "Batman" television series. She revealed that she has not seen yet "The Dark Knight Rises" but says the movies have become darker.

Newmar, who was interviewed by Michael Yo in "The Yo Show" said she prefers the earlier Batman.

"It's evolved so much," Newmar told Yo about Batman. "It's dark and I think we had so much fun in the '60s. And then Vietnam came and things sort of got darker and darker and darker," she said.

The actress also noted the evolution of Catwoman.

"Catwoman would just kind of sit there in the fight scenes and she'd just sort of file her nails...she couldn't be bothered with all the nonsense," Newmar said.

When asked if she could name her favorite portrayal of Catwoman she declined to answer.

"No. No names," Newmar said. "I do admire Michelle Pfeiffer as an actress...and I haven't seen Anne yet, and I'm sure she's divine."

In comparison, the iconic role played by actresses Michelle Pfeiffer, Halle Berry and Anne Hathaway has much fighting involved.

In the latest Batman film, Hathaway received positive reviews about her work with director Christopher Nolan praising her for "nailing" the character.

"[Catwoman] is the most alive presence in the movie in the beginning, and she also helps draw Bruce Wayne (Batman) out of his shell. She's a breath of fresh air...and Anne Hathaway just nails the character, delightfully," Nolan said in an interview with CNN.

Newmar is now 78 and from time to time makes guest appearances and loves gardening.
