Penny Dreadful went for authenticity this week when the Showtime series filmed a new episode for Season 2 in a real-life cemetery.

Director James Hawes tweeted a teaser for the scene on Wednesday, offering a picture of the gravesite covered in fresh snow.

While Hawes might have given fans reason to fear for their beloved characters, producer Christopher King was busy fearing for himself.

The graves might have been real this week, but the snow certainly wasn't. Crew spread the stuff across fresh green grass as they prepped the area for production, giving the semblance of a subtle winter setting.

Photos released by both King and Hawes confirm that the premiere of the new season will take place in winter, with most or all of the cast involved in the first episode.

Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for a second, longer season in 2015.
