It may not have Joaquin Phoenix giving the thumbs down or Russell Crowe fighting for his life, but it looks like Ridley Scott is trying to re-capture one of his most famous works in Gladiator with his latest effort, starring Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton.

Liam Neeson Faces Death & Vengeance In New 'Tak3n' Trailer

The latest trailer for Scott's Exodus: Gods and Kings was released on Wednesday and it offered another look at the director's examination at the relationship between Moses (Bale) and his brother, Ramses (Edgerton).

Using state of the art visual effects and 3D immersion, Scott brings new life to the story of the defiant leader Moses as he rises up against the Egyptian Pharaoh Ramses, setting 400,000 slaves on a monumental journey of escape from Egypt and its terrifying cycle of deadly plagues.

The look of the trailer is gorgeous with the technology used by Scott, clearly making the movie look like something epic and massive. Controversy aside, the cast alone is impressive and it looks like Bale and Edgerton are going for Oscar gold with their performances.

With each trial hitting Egypt, it seems like Scott is looking to give audiences the most realistic, and almost haunting, portrayal of the story with the giant special effects use and visuals that look to keep up what he displayed in Prometheus.

Exodus: Gods and Kings also stars John Turturro, Aaron Paul, Ben Mendelsohn, Sigourney Weaver, and Ben Kingsley. It comes from a script by Adam Cooper & Bill Collage and Jeffrey Caine and Steven Zaillian.

The film is set to open in theaters on December 12.
