With Robert Downey Jr. joining the cast of the next Captain America, it could be the beginning of Iron Man becoming a type of villain in the future Marvel movies and this transformation could begin with the character trying to take out a former bad guy.

What Marvel Directors Are Taking Over For Joss Whedon On 'Avengers 3?'

Mentioned briefly in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, it was said that Bucky Barnes, or the re-invented Winter Soldier, had a hand in the death of Tony Stark's father, Howard, who was said to have died in a car crash. The movie seems to hint that Bucky was the one who created the crash that would take Howard out.

While Tony may not know this initially, it could be found through the files that he has obtained on the Winter Soldier should they find him during the movie and lead to high tensions between Tony, Bucky and Captain America who may side with Bucky now since they were friends and he clearly wants to reconcile with him.

Another Avenger Is Coming To 'Captain America 3' To Cause Tension With Chris Evans

This could also be the catalyst for Tony becoming an enemy in the eyes of some of the Avengers as the Civil War plot begins to unravel and sides are drawn. While this may not be the point that breaks everything, it will be an early dividing line between Tony and Captain America that will set the sides of the Civil War.

Since the first Iron Man, this quest to almost become his father has been the course that Tony has taken whether it was creating and becoming Iron Man or joining up with the Avengers. This quest to find answers on his father's work has been a small point that he has looked for and this could bust the whole thing wide open.

Captain America 3 is set to open in theaters on May 6, 2016.
