Colin Farrell (Saving Mr. Banks, Minority Report) and Vince Vaughn (Into The Wild, Wedding Crashers) are both big-name stars confirmed for Season 2 of HBO's hit drama True Detective, but before the actors get down to work they'll need a little introduction first.

'True Detective' Might Begin Later Than Expected in 2015

"I'll go see him [Vaughn] hopefully this week, sit down for lunch or coffee or something," Farrell told Irish Central on Wednesday in admitting that he has yet to meet his costar.

For the time being, Farrell and Vaughn remain two of the few confirmed cast members, but as things begin to come together Farrell is eager to get started.

Colin Farrell Confirms 'True Detective' Role

"It's phenomenal writing, strong writing," explained the actor, who has read four of the eight scripts so far. "It's all there on the page. [Creator] Nic Pizzolatto has done an incredible job creating this new world that is a separate tune and separate place and has a completely new array of characters than the first season."

As one of HBO's most highly anticipated returns for 2015, some fans fear that the late start for production, which was meant to begin this month, might cause the series to miss its summer premiere date. According to True Detective Rumors on Tuesday, the delay could lead HBO to reschedule the drama for another month or even another year, putting the premiere sometime in 2015.

If all goes according to plan and the crime drama comes together in time for its initial release date, True Detective will return to HBO for a second season in mid-2015.
