Halloween costumes for adults can get pretty pricey, but for those looking to go that extra mile to buy something this season, there are hundreds of options. 

Former 'Teen Mom' Dishes On Halloween Plans 

For women the historical and the bizarre are selling best this year. One of the biggest retailers for Halloween costumes, Party City's top costume is The Adult Lindy and Lace Flapper Costume, which includes a black dress, headband, and long strand of pearls. This look harkens back to the 1920s and is a returning favorite year after year.

Following as a close second is the Adult Hot S.W.A.T. Costume, which comes with a corset S.W.A.T. labeled top, tutu skirt, shorts, and fingerless gloves. A pair of boots and sunglasses are not included, though recommended in the accompanying photo.

'Penny Dreadful' Gets New Costumes For Season 2 

For those looking for a slightly more outrageous look, the third and fourth best-selling Party City costumes are certainly head-turners. At no. 3 there is the Adult Jesterina costumes, which comes with a black and red printed dress, matching headband, garter, gloves, long mismatched socks and a black tutu with red lining. The costumes additionally calls for face paint and a long, extravagant red wig and a cane topped with a skull figure.

A similar though less vibrant option is the Adult Tricksterina costume, which looks similar to a court jester only in black and white. With a corset, tutu, mismatched socks, gloves, and elaborate headband, the get-up is similar to the Jesterina in that it benefits from the adding of face paint.

For men, top costumes are sporting a more comic-themed look. Party City's bestselling men's costume is the Adult Flight Suit Costume from the popular 1980s film Top Gun, which comes with a simple aviators suit with assorted badges. Add a pair of sunglasses and the look is ready to go.

Following the 1980's look is the iconic Spiderman Party-Suit, designed after the popular comic book and film character. The red and black spandex suit comes with a mask and is easily slipped into without the fuss of accessories or face paint.

Similarly, the Raphael One Piece Costume From Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles doesn't come with much. The printed jumpsuit is a bit warmer than the Spiderman and comes with a fleece hood instead of a mask.

The fourth best-seller is a little more old-school. The adult Pixilated Monster Morphsuit is a one-piece spandex suit just like Spiderman, but harkens back to old videogames with its pixilated green body and simply printed face.

Most of these costumes range from $35-$45, though many of the accessories are not included.
